PATTI'S BUTTERFLIES FAN SPOTLIGHT CONTEST

Rebba's Winning Story:

I have been a fan of Patti LaBelle for many years.  I own numerous CDs, cookbooks, and her biography "Don't Block the Blessings."  I love all the songs on her CDs.  Many of her songs send messages to my heart and soul.  While reading, "Don't Block the Blessings" I found myself hidden in many of the pages.  Many of the same situations have occurred in my life.  She helped me understand myself better and gave me insight on how to deal with my hidden, painful memories. She taught me how to forgive and let go of the past that was preventing me from moving forward.  I will always try to listen to her words of wisdom, "there's no gain in living in the past, wishing for yesterdays we no longer have and that each new moment may bring some new chance to overcome, if we don't block the blessings."

This past year I had the privilege to attend her concert at Riverwind Casino in Norman, Oklahoma.  A dream come true.  She was all I knew she would be and much more.  Her positive attitude shines through and her loving energy lights the darkest room.  This was the first time I felt happiness since the passing of my precious mother.  My dear mother was carried by the angels into the arms of her Lord, Feb. 1, 2008.  She was misdiagnosed and went into cardiac arrest unexpectedly, at home, 10 hours after seeing her doctor.  She was unresponsive for three days before her passing.  I am a Registered Nurse.  My Mother trusted me totally, I feel I let her down.  I would have never left her that night if I knew what was about to happen.  Our last words were I Love You.  She was the glue that held our family together.  I have been totally lost without her and so very empty inside.  My focus has been on heaven and wanting to be with my Mother.  Patti brought some happiness back into my life that night I saw her in concert.  Her words have inspired me beyond belief.  She is such a beautiful person inside and out.  She has no ideal what kind of impact her voice and message has made to so many people everywhere.  I would love to have the chance to thank Patti for being there for me when I needed someone the most.  She had no way of knowing how much she helped me through the darkest time of my life.  She is a wonderful, positive, beautiful, caring lady.  God sends us angels when we need them the most and Patti LaBelle is my Angel.  We must always remember to tell the special people in our lives we love them today for tomorrow may never come.  Patti ended her show with one of my favorite songs, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."  While listening to Patti's beautiful voice, my thoughts were on my precious Mother.  Remembering Patti saying, "a girl never becomes a woman until she loses her mother."  "When you've been blessed love never dies."  I look forward to the day when I will be reunited with my dear Mother. 

Patti is someone I would want for a best friend.  She is an active, positive, beautiful, inspiring, spontaneous, honest, loyal, caring, funny, sensitive, charming lady who happens to love to cook.  All the attributes I love in a friend.  Patti has a magical way of making you forget she is a famous, sensational, one of a kind entertainer.  She has a way of making you feel comfortable, important, special, part of the family, a person she really cares about.  She is a remarkably magnificent woman.

If I had one wish before I leave this world it would be to meet Patti LaBelle.  To be able to tell her in person what a wonderful caring person she is and through her music and personal words of wisdom she helped me through the most difficult time of my life.  Reality tells me I will never have the privilege of meeting this wonderful lady in person so the next best thing would be to talk with her over the phone.  God is using Patti to spread a message. She freely shares personal experiences in hopes of helping others.  Her songs and words of wisdom give hope, inspiration, motivation and love to all who are open to receive the message.  Patti thank you for sharing your gift with us.  I am glad Patti followed her heart and did not allow anyone to crush her dream.  I am glad she turned her dreams into reality.  Patti is an angel sent from God who has blessed each and every one of us in ways she will never comprehend.  I pray God continues to bless her life for many years.
