Deidra's Winning Butterfly Story:

I have been a Patti Labelle fan for many years now.  I used to attend Patti Labelle concerts often but since I moved to NC 4 years ago, I have not seen her.  I am in so much need of a Patti fix.  But anyway I wanted to tell you my Patti story.

My first Patti Labelle experience was in Atlantic City, NJ.  It was my wedding anniversary and my husband bought me tickets.  I was so excited because I had never seen Miss Patti in concert before.  I purchased a gift that I wanted her to have.  Finally it was time to attend the show.  I was decked out in my all red gown.  Miss Patti came out and performed and I cried the whole show.  Then there was a time in the show where I thought it was good to bring her the gift. I got to the front of the stage and Bammmm she noticed me.  She walked over to where I was squatted between 2 chairs and she said hello to me.....I handed her the gift and she said "thank you" but then noticed that I was crying I mean really crying. She asked me "Whats Wrong Baby?" Man I am telling you I was so hysterical that I could hardly talk.  I answered back to her " I Just Love You So Much."  She told me then " It's Ok I Love You Too."  I turned and went back to my seat to watch the rest of the show.

I have since seen and met Miss Patti a few times.  My husband drew a picture of Miss Patti from one of her albums and I presented it to her on stage. I am so much of a Patti fan that anytime she is on TV someone is bound to call me and ask me if I am watching... knowing darn well I already have it on. My children know that if I am listening to music and it's not Patti Labelle that there is something wrong.  I took them (my whole family) to a book signing in NJ and my son who was then about 7 years old or younger, drew a picture of Miss Patti in concert and our family as the audience he also wrote her a letter telling her how he wanted to see her sing. My Bad, I got the whole family "Hooked On Patti!" We love her, she is definitely an idol in our house.
